Well, I have been meaning to write about this topic for a while now ( I figure if I have a blog - I should write something) but July was a very busy month especially with school holidays right in the middle of it and now it is the middle of August - wow - time sure flies!!. Recently we had a party at home for my 7 year old daughter and as much as my girls love to have their faces painted sometimes it is nice to do a something a little different - for them as well as me. We chose to have a "Minute to Win It" Theme Party. For those not familiar with the television program check out the Minute to Win It - official site on Channel 7. My girls and I spent a bit of time doing our research on the website - the games are all available to see, complete with instructions and supplies listed - this in itself was fun too! We picked our favourites and then made sure that they were something suitable for 6-8 year olds by testing them out - absolutely hilarious!!! It was a fun couple of weeks trying out new game ideas. There were some great ones and some not so great ( only because they were too difficult for the littlies). My personal fave to watch the kids do... Bite the Bickie - Place a biscuit (cookie) on your forehead and using only your facial muscles try to get the cookie into your mouth, it is possible. In fact, I am laughing now just thinking of it!! This one, as funny as it was, did not make our party list in the end as it was a bit too tricky. But there were lots to choose from and many could be modified to make it easier for the kids
This was a great theme, extremely easy to set-up and organise. I ran most of the games while my sister-in-law was the official time keeper and extra pair of hands. The kids seemed to really enjoy themselves, there was lots of laughter and cheering, highfives and pats on the back for those who did well and those who did not do so well. I was impressed with the good sportsmanship of this group of 6-8 year old and repeatedly smiled to myself thinking my daughter has some truly lovely friends (Well done Mums & Dads!!) I say lovely in that they were kind and well-mannered but don't get me wrong this was the party of a 7 year old - they were really loud too!! I think my sister-in-law who doesn't have kids yet may have just decided to put that off a little while longer :) She was fantastic help though!!!
Anyway, I could say heaps more but I really want to finish this before my daughter wakes up from her nap and it takes me another 3 weeks to get back to it. If you are looking for a FUN party idea - check it out.
Have a FUNTASTIC day!!
Emily
